Greguerías
By Ramón Gómez de la Serna
Ramón Gómez de la Serna is one of the most important voices of Spanish literature of the XXth century. He wrote over a hundred books spanning poetry, theater, short stories, and novels. Yet, he is best remembered today for inventing a genre entirely his own: the greguería.
Greguerías, as Ramón explained, are the fusion of humor + metaphor—sharp, witty one-liners that capture the magic hidden in the everyday. They are tiny explosions of insight, humor, and wonder.
We selected a couple hundred of the best greguerías and translated the ones that resonated most into English. But here’s the twist: we thought greguerías would be perfect as fortune cookies. So, we created a special edition that comes in a take-out box, complete with real cookies—each containing one of our favorite greguerías.
Discover the work of this madman genius in a new, edible anthology.
Limited edition; printed takeout box, fortune cookies, each cookie contains one (1) poem.
