Inspired by historical methods of encoding and protecting information, "Ancient Futures" is a triple-woven textile installation utilizing soft electronics and sentiment analysis to collect and visualize secrets. In collaboration with Nicole Yi Messier and supported by prestigious institutions, this project merges ancient textile traditions with modern technology, creating an adaptive weaving that changes color and animation based on the emotions captured over time.

Ancient Futures uses techniques from the Incans' Quipu to WWII spies' knitted messages, blending them with futuristic materials like fiber optics and LEDs. As it travels and gathers secrets from people worldwide, the textile's dynamic surface evolves, reflecting a global sense of the current human experience through a unique fusion of historical craftsmanship and digital innovation.

Craftwork is a multidisciplinary design and art studio exploring the nature of textiles and technology through storytelling, material-based research and installations. Our broad-based skill set focuses on creative technologies, textile fabrication, and novel materials explored through historical and cultural contexts. We intentionally engage in experimental techniques in both the physical and digital realms, frequently intertwined.

Each sonic textile "print" is unique, images are examples of colorways.
